Philosophy
and goals Philosophy: West Side Christian
Church Preschool’s committee, director, and teachers believe that each
child is a unique individual who develops at his/her own rate.
Our program encompasses a developmental approach to teaching and
provides a wide range of activities for each child. Our staff strives to
implement the latest research about how young children learn. We place
emphasis on the process, the joy of learning, and creating rather than
the finished product. This
approach provides each child the opportunity to reach their highest
potential. Our preschool
provides a program in which teachers and children work together in a
Christian atmosphere of love and trust. The preschool staff serves as
positive role model for the children. We value parents as important
partners in their children’s education and strive to work together with
parents throughout the school year.
Finally, West
Side Christian Church Preschool strives to provide a classroom
experience that teaches each child behavior that will be necessary for
entering kindergarten. Play is a child’s work and one of the most
important aspects of his life.
Goals: Our goal is to provide experiences that enrich each child’s cognitive, language, social, emotional, physical, and creative development. Children have the opportunity to create, explore their environment, learn problem solving skills, and learn new concepts through hands-on experiences each day. The program is designed to meet the developmental needs of young children (pre-three to kindergarten).
Program Goals: You will learn about
your child’s progress by means of:
Conferences: A parent
may request a conference at any time. Teachers will also confer with a
parent over the phone when the need arises.
Newsletters: A
newsletter and class calendar is sent home at the beginning of each
month. Please read and post the information in your home.
Classroom visits:
Visits may be arranged after the first month of school.
Conversations:
Converse with your child about happenings at school. Please remember
that some children, especially very young children, will not always
share details about their day at school. Do not be concerned, as this is
normal behavior.
