A1- The Church Care Team, in conjunction with the Elders, will arrange for pulpit supply (guest ministers) to get us through the Lenten Season and Easter. We may have lay members in the pulpit as well. In the meantime the committee will meet with our Regional Minister, Lee Parker, and begin looking at potential interim candidates.

A2- An interim gives the church continuity in church administration, programming, visitation, counseling, Bible study, etc, as well as preaching on Sundays. The interim works with the church leaders and congregation to guide them through the separation process and to prepare for a new ministry.

The interim minister is extended the full rights and privileges of a settled pastor but just on a short-term basis, generally 6 months to a year.

Back to questions

A3 - Yes, a candidate would be recommended to the official Board and the congregation must approve the individual. We will still be looking at candidates for the permanent position but bear in mind that on average this is about a year to 18 month process.

Back to questions

A4 - With your continued support and the guidance of our Deacons, Elders and Care Teams, all programming should continue and even grow during this searching period. Your commitment to financial giving and participation in events and ministries is more vital than ever as we continue to live out the Vision of West Side. Your spiritual gifts will be needed to insure we continue all our ministries.

Back to questions

A5 - The committee is tasked with compiling the congregational profile for submission to the Regional church. We will be preparing “marketing” materials that showcase the church’s ministries and the area to be sent to potential candidates. We will review all resumes that we receive, determine which candidates to send materials to, and if they are interested in West Side, to schedule one or more phone interviews. Once we collectively agree on one or more viable candidates we will pursue a meet and greet. We will make regular reports to the administrative cabinet and board, provide newsletter updates, and post progress notes on the West Side web site.

Back to questions

A6 - First and foremost, pray for the committee. Share your ideas and opinion s with the committee, continue to attend worship and church activities and continue your financial giving.
